What are you trying to get God to do for you today? Do you need healing? Need some favor on your job? Could you use more money?
The truth is, you don’t need to get God to do anything for you. He has already done it. You’ve already got it.
2 Peter 1:3 says, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.
The only thing we are lacking is knowledge.
Most Children of God don’t realize what they’ve already got!
Think back to your 16th birthday, let’s imagine that during your party, your father walks up to you, gives you a big hug and places in your hand the keys to a brand new Mustang sports car. He tells you, your new car is parked in the garage. While holding this shiny key in your hand, would you respond to your dad by saying, “Oh Dad, please give me a new car? I’m 16 now, just got my driver’s license and I really need a car. This isn’t a selfish request, I’ll tell everyone this car came from you. Please dad, pleeeeeese give me a car.”
Of course not! You’d say thanks, dad! Then take off running to the garage and hop in your new car!
But most church-going people, even though the Word plainly tells them what Jesus has already done for them – they keep begging God to give them what He’s already told them they have.
The Bible says,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1:3
Paul says, He “hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings,” meaning it’s already done. You already have all spiritual blessings.
God is a spirit, everything we need, God has already provided in the spiritual realm, by our faith we bring it into the physical realm.
Begging God does not work. You’ve already got it.
At the cross, Jesus said – “It is finished.”
Jesus already broke every curse, redeemed us, set us free from condemnation, and HAS ALREADY blessed us along with faithful Abraham.
One of the Names of God is Jehovah Jireh, which means “God Sees Ahead and Provides.” It’s like Jesus went to the store and already purchased everything we would need for our life, to fulfill our purpose here. He stockpiled our pantry shelves with all that we need. He “Saw Ahead and Provided.” He provided for our healing, our financial provision, safety, protection, wisdom, restoration.
So how are we to receive all the things on our pantry shelf?
By faith, we inherit the promises. We start speaking it!
Hebrews 6:12 (NKJV) “… imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
So instead of pleading with God for what you need. By faith, take it.
To inherit means “to receive by virtue of being heir to it.” We are heirs of God. We receive all that He has promised by faith.
For example, if you are sick, don’t beg God for healing.
Receive the healing that is already yours. Don’t say, God, please heal my body. Instead, from a heart of faith in God’s finished work, you say: Thank you Lord that “by the stripes of Jesus, I was healed.” (I Peter 2:24) and declare that “I have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living in me.” Eph. 1:19-20.
Rather than moving TOWARD getting healed, you speak FROM the position of already having the victory, already being healed – and enforcing that victory.
You must claim your inheritance. If you don’t – the devil is sure to steal it from you.
Whatever is promised in the Word of God is already yours. It’s your inheritance as a Child of God. Need a list of promises to claim? I have a gift for you, “70 Promises for an Abundant Life.” This is just a sampling of all God promises that belong to you as His Child. There are actually over 8000 promises in God’s Word – I am sure you’ll find what you are looking for!
So please don’t beg. It is an insult to your Father to beg for what He’s already said is yours.
If you have a habit of praying, “God be with me today.”
Stop that, friend! It is insulting to God.
He has already promised that He will never leave you or forsake you.
So change your prayer to be in alignment with God’s promises and speak in faith, “Thank you, Father, that You are with me today, You are leading me to make the right decisions. I am never afraid because You are with me.”
Simply start acknowledging the good things that the Word says are in you, and then your faith begins to be effective. You’ll start seeing these things manifest in your life. That is so much easier than begging and pleading with God!
Your Father already knows what you need, and wants you to have it!
God has already forgiven you. Already healed you. He’s already commanded His blessing upon you and your finances. Already given you love, joy, and peace.
Rather than getting God to respond to you; you must learn to respond to God!
You can defend something that is already yours, more easily than you can go and try to get something you don’t have.
So bottom line: It is not a matter of trying to get God to move in your life; it’s a matter of you moving into agreement with Him and receiving what He has already provided.
I’d love to read your comments below. Tell me what promises you are claiming for your life.
